Looking for a great volunteer opportunity? Attend the Crab Orchard Refuge VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT DAY Saturday March 4th, 10AM to 3 PM, at the Visitor's Center. Come for the day, or stop in for information at your convenience. At 10 AM there will be a presentation about the Refuge and its use of volunteers, followed by a panel discussion by current volunteers, who will talk about their volunteering experiences. Tables will be set up with informational materials and job descriptions of many volunteer positions. Why donate your volunteer hours to the Refuge? It's fun and they need you! Whether your interests draw you to working on trails, patrolling roads in a Refuge truck, monitoring wildlife habitat such as the bluebird trail, maintaining native wildflower beds, greeting visitors at the Visitors Center, assisting with educational programs, or joining in on an occasional workday project; your volunteer hours are vital to many Refuge programs. Have a special skill or expertise that you'd like to use to help the Refuge? Those are needed too (Can you run a tractor? Lead a birding tour or wildflower walk?).
